What's the difference between introduction and thesis statement?

Intro statement is generally a "hook," or something to catch the readers attention. Following the "hook," a brief explanation of the topic you will be touching upon follows. Then a thesis is your argument. A thesis MUST be arguable and is generally the last sentence in your introduction paragraph.
